2027 Presidential Race: ADC Aspirants Lack Winning Formula, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Says

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo sociocultural organization, has issued a strongly worded statement declaring that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) lacks the capacity to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections. The organization characterized the ADC’s presidential aspirants as a “certified congregation of strange bedfellows” united by what it described as a nefarious agenda of state capture.

The press release, signed by Deputy President General Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, leveled specific accusations against prominent ADC figures. The organization criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for his actions during the 2022 PDP presidential primaries, former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai for alleged violence against Igbo Christians in Southern Kaduna, and former Transport Minister Chibuike Amaechi for purportedly favoring other regions over the Southeast in rail infrastructure projects.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu’s administration, citing a collective decision made during recent Igbo Day celebrations in Asaba, Delta State. The organization expressed confidence that key Tinubu allies would secure victory across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones, specifically mentioning Defence Minister Bello Matawelle and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu in the North, Works Minister Dave Umahi in the Southeast, and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in the Niger Delta.

The statement also called on President Tinubu to release forensic investigation reports concerning the Niger Delta Development Commission, particularly regarding allegations against Mrs. Judith Amaechi, wife of Chibuike Amaechi, involving alleged fraudulent activities totaling 48 billion Naira for non-existent women’s training programs.
